Learners will be working towards the Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language. Designed to enable learners to acquire the basic ability to communicate with deaf people using British Sign Language.

Learners who have successfully completed BSL Level 1 also need to complete a Pre-Level 2 course before enrolling on BSL Level 2 in September. These courses will follow on from the Level 1 courses and will run in summer 2009. They will be advertised in the Spring 2009 brochure.

British Sign Language Level 2

Learners need to have successfully completed British Sign Language Level 1 and the British Sign Language Pre Level 2 course or be approved by tutor interview before enrolling on the BSL Level 2 course. You will learn functional communication in British Sign Language through tasks resembling real life experiences of people who meet and mix with deaf people. The course dates may include some Saturday workshops to be confirmed with the tutor. Course fee includes examination and administration fees. Learners may sometimes be required to visit other institutions to widen their experience. The cost for such visits will be in addition to the course fee. (Max 16 learners).
