Monks & Monasteries

Before their destruction by Henry VIII the monasteries of England were an important part of the religious, political and economic fabric of the country. This intriguing visit to the remains of the medieval Abbey will go back in time to look at the daily lives of the monks, the layout and architecture of their monastery, and the events leading to its final closure and demolition. Not suitable for the less mobile. There will be a break for refreshments so please bring a packed lunch. Meet at Abbey Wood BR station at 10:30am.
